清明时节雨纷纷

i went home on saturday morning to pick my parents up for our annual trip to the cemetery and as i was walking towards the lift, i saw miss kok kok shoes waiting for the bus:

definitely not going to the lim chu kang cemetery i thought. giggles :)

the traffic was ok and the navigator surprisingly made me take a earlier turn and we ended up having to cut across 2 plots of graves on foot before reaching my grandma's.

this year's affair seemed a hasty one. not sure if its the scorching sun and ironically, my mum had such a good time at the new annex at jurong point. we had our lunch at 鼎泰丰 which she was very pleased with their 拉面 and of course the famous 小笼包.

we toured the entire jurong point after lunch and headed for a hk style dessert shop call 记得吃 (gei dak sek). again my mom raved about the desserts and she simply adored the 炖蛋撞姜, something which we missed when we were in macau last year.

essentially, food prevailed the entire afternoon.

eeeeeeew!

nothing too difficult to handle; only clearing up the massive mess left behind.
totally inconsiderate and irresponsible; though not surprising since the resignation was tendered without notice.

肥既可怕又可悲

the last straw is when i discovered i can no longer fit into my pants anymore. gasp!
and it cost me $180 for 3 new ones.
it was 9 years ago when i changed my wardrobe for smaller sizes.
now? bye bye slim clothes, hello fat ones.

170, jam, kim gary, padini & strawberry yogurt

i woke up this morning and decided to buy some new shirts for work next week. the first thing that came into my mind was padini.

hence i left house at 9:45am and waited for the bus to come. the journey to the causeway was quite fast but i met with an unexpected at the causeway. it took 1hr 30mins to clear both customs and i reached city square slightly past 12.

by then i was already growling but i went to padini to have a preview first. the first thing i saw was a red sign that says: SALE

im so thrilled and fastened my pace to see the percentage of discounts: 20% to 50%

amazing. i came at the right time!

after a preliminary round of scanning, i decided not to buy new pants for the time being and quickly walked out the store to look for kim gary.

it wasnt crowded when i got there and was quickly ushered to a table. i ordered mark 6 curry with rice and wrongly ordered an iced coffee which turned out to suit my taste. the curry, baked with cheese, is spicy hot. yummy! and for only rm 15, it comes with a vegetable soup, service charge and taxes. i doubt the singapore outlet will be even close this price.

after lunch, i headed back to padini fully charged. i zoomed straight to the shirts and bought 3 at 50% off. come to think of it, its less than sgd 70 for the 3 shirts. i should have just bought more. maybe i can go again tomorrow. ha ha!

after that i headed back home and made fresh strawberry yogurt for mummy. she is 6yrs old today. such an adorable mummy. love her, love her, love her.

d.p.s.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

what a day

i met darlin for lunch and we checked out how much it would costs to repair my spare key. apparently an instinct tells me to check out the rates b4 going back to c&c but unfortunately, the shops we went to were unable to provide the repair service so i went to c&c:

me: i have some problem using this key (showing the workshop technician the key which i have disassembled)

technician: you dropped your key ah?

me: no, i just unscrewed it to change the battery because i initially thought that the battery was weak... (meanwhile the technician was pressing the buttons, trying to get some response)

me: the battery is not inserted (roll eyes) that's the new battery (which was just next to the key)

technician: oh? (takes out the battery and put it back) ya... it is not working...

me: so how much would it costs to repair?

technician: i dont know. you have to drive your car into the workshop first.

me: (cautious) but its the key that is not working, not the car right?

technician: ya but the sensor is linked to your car.

me: ok, so how much would it costs?

technician: i dont know. you have to drive your car into the workshop, we find out what is wrong, only then i can tell you how much it is.

me: (roll eyes) ok, so how long do i have to wait?

technician: its a long queue. you have to leave your car overnight and collect tomorrow.

me: its ok, i'll come another time.

i thought that was it. just my luck to meet such a response. but who knows, i came home, opened the letter box to received a reminder letter dated 6 mar, indicating that my application for cashback has not been processed. this really annoyed me becase i just met my agent on 4 mar to personally sign the documents and he told me that he will personally send it to the hq for processing that very day. so i decided to call up to find out what's happening:

me: i want to know the outcome of my application for cashback.

operator: sure, may i verify ...... yes mr tan, your application has not been processed because we have not received it.

me: dun you dare because me! i have personally met my agent to sign the forms and he told me that he would deliver the documents personally for processing the same day and now you are telling me that you have not received it. are you trying to tell me that my agent is lying to me?

operator: im sorry mr tan, we really have no records of your applications. please hold the line, i'll check for you again.

5mins later

operator: i have checked with my colleagues, there are no records to show that your forms have been received by us. would it be all right if i call your agent to check?

me: no, i wish to speak to your manger about this matter.

operator: im sorry mr tan, my mamager is engaged on the line.

me: its ok, i'll wait for your manager.

10mins later

manager: hi mr tan, i am k and r has brifely told me about your concerns. we really do not have records to show that the documents have been submitted.

me: i am very unhappy about how the matter is being managed. it has already past 1 mth since i last made my request to withdraw the money. right now, i just want someone to be accountable for the whole application process. i want to know what is going to happen if my agent really did not submit my application?

manager: ok mr tan, first let me check who the agent is.... (3 mins later) oh its f from xx bank.

me: yes i know. so if he did not submit my application, who can i approach?

manager: (pause) because he is not directly our staff, there is no one you can go to. i guessyou can direct it to me.

me: (roll eyes) im more concerned if the documents have been dutifully sent to you by my agent and the processing department sat on it, then who should i approach?

manager: please hold the line mr tan. (5 mins later) you can direct your concerns to ms t.c.l... she is the manager of the processing department.

me: ok, can i have her direct line?

manager: im sorry mr tan, we do not give out her direct line to our customers.

me: then how do you suggest i can reach her?

manager: you can email her at ......... customer.service@

me: wouldnt that email goes to you?

manager: yes, i'll then direct the email to her... you can put the subject as attn: ms t.c.l

me: (really stepped on my tail and i gave up) so what can you do for me?

mamager: mr tan, i can call your agent and find out if he has sent the form for you. i will also check with the processing department if that have received your application.

me: and when will i hear from you?

manager: can i call you back before 5pm today mr tan?

me: fine, and i how do i spell your name?

manager: k-X-X-X-X

me: thank you k. i'll be expecting your call by 5 today.

faints. i really have no idea why these people are being paid to provide such lousy services. to me the manger is just buying time and the biggest turn off is the way to contact the processing department is through him!

pandora's box

stressed!
stressed!
stressed!

the letter which i have been waiting for has just arrived.
i opened it excitedly and am now feeling ambivalent after opening it.
the stakes have just been raised.

mega memory

i took my mum and aunt to kuishin bo (great world city) for buffet lunch today. it was quite a spread of goodies and we could hardly move after that. eventually we had to in order to take advantage of the lunch express special.

the highlight was really to get my mum a new watch as those i have previously bought are now too small for her deteriorating eyesight. we found one eventually and headed towards orchard to shop shop after that.

about 1.5 hours later as we were heading back to the car, we passed by a shoe shop at wisma atria and my mum said this:

"the last time i came here (wisma atria) was when you bought a pair of shoes from this shop."

i was thinking silently: "oh no... which pair ah?" and was quickly scanning through my shoes collection and suddenly that pair appeared.

"oh that pair ah" i said. i wore it to hong kong in 2001.

that instant made me realise 8 years was how long my mum havent been to wisma artia.

gosh, i really should take her out more often.

its feels like amputation

i received an sms from my brother wanting to borrow my car for the weekend, at the same time received a missed call from my mom yesterday afternoon.

i called my mom only to find out that my car has already been loaned to my brother, by her.

or, at least i wont have to endure the nagging from my mom for lending my car to my brother without her approval.

its been such a long time since i last took the bus.
and it seems i've lost my legs for this weekend,
not withstanding the fact that i am badly burnt.
