reunion dinner (reprise)

omg!

omg!

omg!

its was a mistake on both sides.
me, for being trusting that they'd live up to their reputation.
them, for failing miserably on their tasks:

20mins of clueless waiting after the yu sheng,
only to find out that our shark's fins had swam to another table.
all of a sudden, 3 dishes squeezed their way to the dining table at once.
for whatever reason, the red grouper was not red at all.
and all the food served was cold.

in the end, the ordeal lasted 2.5hours.
total embarrassment to host dinner at min jiang @ one rochester.
and of course it became the sizzling hot gossip the following day among my relatives.

好事不出门,坏事传千里.

but...

the ultimate award still goes to st regis:

already fuming half way through my dinner, i received a call from them, asking if i'd still be going down for dinner. apparently they didnt even bother to send me their cny menu which i have requested for and they took it that i have reserved a table.

how dare you!
i screamed over the phone.

i really cant figure what these people are thinking.

halal toothpaste

i had a shock brushing my teeth this morning.
i noticed a hala sign on my toothpaste tube which i have been using for the past week.
and when i googled 'halal toopaste', i'm really amazed by the search results.

apparently colgate sold in malaysia has always been halal!
i would love to take this into classroom and see if my muslim students are aware of halal toothpaste.

a little night music

i caught this play when i was in london.
i remember it was freezing when i was waiting for the bus after the play had ended, to the extent to shaking even after boarding the bus.
i hate songs which keeps repeating and particularly find a few songs irritating.
the plot, i consider SCANDALOUS...

alexandra burke

besides duffy, the other singer which is sizzling hot in london right now is the 2008 x factor winner alexandra burke.
she is to me, another beyonce in the making.
here are her winning performances.

listen

hallelujah

results

her single tops the christmas singles chart and is selling for ₤3.99.

warick avenue

i was watching the pop charts in london when i saw the mtv for warick avenue for the first time.
it was also the first time i heard this song and i love it instantly.
the deluxe version of duffy's cd was on sale in london for ₤9.99 but i bought it locally for S$22.95.

i hope to find the actual mtv soon.

i did it!

i've tendered my resignation first thing today.
my boss was shocked.
apparently she had gigantic plans for me this year but i just have to go.
so long poverty, hello la vie!

highlights from london

didnt really get down to post pictures from london. i guess more time were spent on shopping rather than sight seeing. the final bill came in and i think i did well. my best buy is definitely the limited edition ysl l'homme and a pair of tod's loafers for only ₤69.

i explored london mainly by foot, which i probably will never walk so much here in sunny island. its already 8:30am and the streets are still dark.

i was heading towards the buckingham palace to witness the change of guards parade. it was an awfully long wait and in my opinion, not worth the wait in 2 degrees. both my feet were frozen and so were the 1,000 tourists who were there.

i gave up and headed towards kinsington palace for an exhibition, followed by fried chicken at whole foods market.

sun sets at 4pm in london and the streets turn dark pretty fast. i walked back leisurely to take pictures of mr big and miss eye:

views of london from miss eye:

river thames

the parliament house

the flight was pretty fast and of course the singapore's copy caught fire several hours ago before i boarded the original.

i had loads of bbq pork and crispy pork and roast duck here in chinatown. they are so delicious that i had it once a day during my last 3 days in london.

comparatively, the chinatown in paris is so dead and i certainly see more chinese people walking about in london, specially in harvey nichols, harrods, selfridges.

tate modern (museum)

tower bridge

st paul's (where princess diana married prince charles)

overall, london was definitely more enjoyable than paris. lots to eat and shop.

and how can i not include this:
