im so gonna bitch about this si ah pui

here's how the story goes:

last week i sms ah pui to see if he is free for lunch this coming friday.
his immediate reply was im free, where can we go (it came with a request, si ah pui wants a ride).
i decided to ask moo moo along since we have not met for a long time.
while waiting for moo moo's reply, i told si ah pui that we are meeting next friday for lunch, no matter what.
he said okay, keep him posted.

moo moo replied on sat saying he's ok to meet during lunch for about 1.5hrs.

yesterday this si ah pui sms me asking if we can dun meet for too long because he has a TENTATIVE birthday party in the EVENING and he needs time to prepare for it. (notice how fast our original appointment is now 2nd in order of preference?)

i replied si ah pui this morning saying that moo moo cant come out too long either since its during lunch and not tat im so desperate to meet si ah pui for too long either.

guess wat si ah pui replied?

"meet him another day den, tats veri rush i think. we can meet in the morning if u wan, 11ish to 12. Palaris?"

si ah pui if you are reading this, why are you excluding moo since you want me to meet you during lunch time anyway? doesnt moo moo needs to eat?

and just in case you dunno, i so dun palaris anymore! i only straits kitchen okay?

moo moo if you are reading this, i think u should give tat si ah pui two pinches. one for yourself and the one for me. he deserves it.

i was reading the papers until i reached the obituaries.
a black and white picture of a couple ballroom dancing caught my eye.
possibly sent in by their childdren (im guessing).
then as i scroll my eyes down, i saw someone familar.
then there was an immediate feeling of sadness.
he was the mt wo during my army days.
because of my 2b military lisence, i saw him frequently about the 5 bikes with the pizza boxes.
i last saw him during my reservist last year where he was posted to a higher level.
we were reminiscing those days and i could see that he still held the level of respect from his subordinates.
i always think its because he treats his soldiers like his own children. 
incidentally, he is my parents age too.
it saddens me to see his picture in the obituaries. totally unexpected.

this is really classic example of not knowing what they are queuing for. obviously the promotion (not even a sale) is meant for employees and their family / friends holding on to the vouchers. yet people are willing to stand in the queue just to get into the shop. happy birthday singapore. you have done well in your education!

i think i'd better start saving for rainny days.

family

my family just had a big fight last weekend. it is exactly over our imperfections and im so ashamed of myself for letting go of my emotions. after all, i "took" after my parents who were all so impulsive then.

and it takes years of mellowing down before my mum could be saying this:

"having gone through all the trouble to get to where we are now yet none of you could exert self-control, then there is really nothing more left to say..."

i always think that it is too late for my father to be thanking me whenever ive sent them home nowadays because i grew up in a family where mistakes are magnified 100x. before i could open my mouth and give greetings or even the chance to say thank you, my actions will first have to be corrected. it has always been like that, at least until i have graduated from secondary school.

yes, i sure all these imperfections will be deeply remembered. beautiful or otherwise, im still unsure.

清明时节雨纷纷

i went home on saturday morning to pick my parents up for our annual trip to the cemetery and as i was walking towards the lift, i saw miss kok kok shoes waiting for the bus:

definitely not going to the lim chu kang cemetery i thought. giggles :)

the traffic was ok and the navigator surprisingly made me take a earlier turn and we ended up having to cut across 2 plots of graves on foot before reaching my grandma's.

this year's affair seemed a hasty one. not sure if its the scorching sun and ironically, my mum had such a good time at the new annex at jurong point. we had our lunch at 鼎泰丰 which she was very pleased with their 拉面 and of course the famous 小笼包.

we toured the entire jurong point after lunch and headed for a hk style dessert shop call 记得吃 (gei dak sek). again my mom raved about the desserts and she simply adored the 炖蛋撞姜, something which we missed when we were in macau last year.

essentially, food prevailed the entire afternoon.
